My quest for a cell phone has been long and rather ironic. I originally agreed to buy the former teacher's cell phone, since she couldn't use it any more and since it would save me money. Since she stayed in Korea for an extra month after her job ended, I agreed to wait and let her keep the phone for that long. Then, owing to some miscommunication, the phone was left with someone else when she left and it took another two weeks for it to make it to me. Yesterday, I was ecstatic to finally get the phone.
Slight problem. When I finally got the phone and charged the battery, I couldn't get it to work. Figuring I just wasn't hitting the right buttons, I brought the phone to Cate, who pronounced it broken. She took it to see if it could be fixed, and learned that it couldn't. The irony was hilarious; I had waited forever for a phone, only to have it be broken when I got it. Cate resolved the issue by buying me a brand new phone. This one is much more befitting my tastes: it's a slider, which I like, and it is very small and lightweight, with loads of extra features, like a camera, organizer, and MP3 player. My new phone was definitely worth the wait!

"Passage—immediate passage! the blood burns in my veins! Away, O soul! hoist instantly the anchor!
Cut the hawsers—haul out—shake out every sail!
Have we not stood here like trees in the ground long enough?
Have we not grovell’d here long enough, eating and drinking like mere brutes?
Have we not darken’d and dazed ourselves with books long enough?
Sail forth! steer for the deep waters only!
Reckless, O soul, exploring, I with thee, and thou with me;
For we are bound where mariner has not yet dared to go, And we will risk the ship, ourselves and all.
O my brave soul!
O farther, farther sail!
O daring joy, but safe! Are they not all the seas of God?
O farther, farther, farther sail!"
~Walt Whitman, "Passage to India"
